Objective

• To meet the water deficiency of the city;
• To avoid depletion of ground water resources, extraction by tube wells.

Issues

Faisalabad city is located in brackish water zone. Water is provided to the city through extraction by tube wells which causes depletion of water resources excessive water table lowering and the resulting high (O&M) cost. Major source is located about 35 km away from the city which involves huge costs due to 3 to 4 time pumping for transportation and supplying water.

Present Status

MOU signed on 7.11.15 with a Turkish and a Chinese Firms to study and move forward for PPP mode project.
